It’s important to create comfortable, hygienic sleep environment for your little one, and a crib is the safest place for your baby to rest and play!
A convertible crib, also known as a lifetime crib, is the most popular option for parents because it has the ability to transform from a crib to a toddler bed, a toddler day bed, and sometimes even a full-size bed.
I was very excited about picking up the nursery essentials and preparing the room when I was pregnant with my first baby. Aside from all the excitement, though, it can be slightly overwhelming because there are tons of cribs on the market! Therefore I’ve narrowed them down to 3 and only reviewed cribs that I thought were worth every penny.
Some parents just look at the price tag, and tempted to buy a cheap one. Well, that’s a bad investment, and a recipe for disaster. I know many people with multiple children. I suggest spending a little more money on a crib so that it will last through the years, and you don’t have to keep buying cribs every time you have a baby.
I’m very grateful to all the experts, pediatricians, and parents who voluntarily contributed to this handy information guide. In this guide you will learn the basics and be able to check out our award-winning crib picks. Read on to save time, money, and unnecessary stress!

Out of those 3 choices I recommend the Stork Craft Portofino when performance and reliability count. So I decided to give it a closer look. Here is our award-winning baby crib.↓
1. STORK CRAFT PORTOFINO
The Stork Craft Portofino Crib and Changing Table is one of the best convertible cribs in the market!
It converts from a full-size crib to a toddler bed to a day bed and to a full-size bed. It has three areas where you can lower the crib mattress as your baby gets older. It has an attached changer that you can detach as you convert the crib and you can use it as a nightstand or something with an extra storage.
The Stork Craft Portofino comes with a waterproof vinyl changing pad which is pretty thin. The drawers are very spacious, I haven’t had any issues with them, and they’re not very noisy either, which is good.
It is easy to assemble, and the colour looks just like in the picture. And on other side of the crib there is more storage with three shelves.
The Stork Craft Portofino also comes with all the added parts that you need in order to convert the crib to the three other styles. So you don’t need to buy any additional hardware to convert the crib. I bought mine on Amazon, and I think it was about three hundred dollars. Well worth the money.
I’ve had my crib for about six months and have really been enjoying it so far. It’s perfect if you have a really small nursery which is the main reason I bought it, because I didn’t have space for a separate crib and a separate changing table.
It is available in three colours; cherry, white and espresso.
This is a crib that grows with your child and is good for up to 15 years with respect to the adjustments that you can make as your child grows.
Very big on the safety features, Stork Craft Portofino is a crib that I feel very confident to put my child in and know that he will be safe.
With comfort, meticulously tested safety features, ease of use and versatility, it is no wonder why the Stork Craft Portofino has been such a huge hit with parents.

Baby cribs come in different sizes. Before you pick out any furniture make sure that you know the dimensions of the nursery, so you’ll know what size of crib can fit in your space. There are full-sized cribs to minicribs and even oval cribs to choose from.
A standard crib is a regular full-size crib. A standard cribs can only be used as a crib, so tends to be less expensive and lighter. A standard crib will last from 18 to 24 months and is a great choice if you plan to move your child to a toddler or twin bed once out of the crib.
A convertible crib, also known as a lifetime crib, is the most popular option for parents because it has the ability to transform from a crib to a toddler bed, a toddler day bed, and sometimes even a full-size bed. Even though they are more expensive than a standard crib, it is a very cost-effective option for parents. We want to use it at each stage. Normally you will need to buy conversion rails separately for the toddler and double bed.

Many of these cribs can also be converted to a toddler bed, a full bed, and the changer portion can become a nightstand.
An oval or round crib are popular choices for parents looking for a unique crib. They go in the center of the nursery, and allow the baby a panoramic view.
A minicrib is smaller than a standard crib, but is a perfect choice for small nurseries, shared rooms, or twins. Many minicribs also convert to a twin bed with the addition of conversion rounds.
A portable crib is either a full-size or a minicrib and folds away for storage when it’s not in use.
Portable cribs are lightweight, can be put in the car for travel, and are essential for trips to grandma’s house.

Whether you just had a baby, are expecting a little one to join your family soon, or taking care of an infant, it’s important to create a safe sleeping environment for your baby.
There are a few things to consider before buying a crib:
The most important consideration is safety. You want to make sure that the crib doesn’t have a dropside, because dropsides have been banned. You want to make sure that the space between the rails is two and three eighths of an inch, the crib is made from hard wood, and the paints are not toxic.
Why is a nontoxic crib so important? Because you don’t want babies chewing on the little things and eating toxic paint. Stay up to date on crib safety regulations such as slat measurements and correct mattress fittings. Safety is definitely the most important thing.
The next step is functionality. Many new parents need to know about functionality for cribs. There are a couple of types of cribs. There’s a crib that converts to a toddler bed and there’s a crib that converts to a full-size bed where the headboard and footboard make for a double fit for the baby. That means that some of these cribs can be used for 18 years. Make sure that the crib is easy to carry and set up.
What types of styles are available on cribs? You can get modern, traditional, or eclectic cribs. Some people like something big, warm, and cozy, some people like a very streamlined look. What about colours?
Look around your house, think about what styles you like. Then pick one that fits in with your decor. If you plan on more children, you may want a more gender-neutral style that will work well for a girl or a boy. Crib styles range from traditional through designer to modern and even ecofriendly, giving you hundreds of options.
Choose a wood finish or a painted crib colour that will fit in with your decor and look good in your baby’s nursery and throughout the childhood years. You might want to consider a crib that will grow with your child, such as a convertible crib that will convert to a toddler or a full-size bed.
For some cribs you can have whatever colour or paint you want – they’re very customizable, and I love the customizable features, because you can really get exactly what you’re looking for and create the nursery of your dreams.
Durability is very important; you want a strong crib made of hard wood. A crib from hard wood is of much better quality. And that means that you’re going to be able to use that crib for much longer and it won’t get scratched by the baby. And from putting the baby in and out of the crib, which is important.
Remember that a crib mattress; they’re typically sold separately and designed for a perfect fit. Just be sure to read all the crib and mattress information before you set it up and say goodnight with ease.
